Opposition clubs have shown a lot of interest in a number of highly credentialled Bombers - that was the wash up from day one of the AFL's official trade period. Essendon chief executive Peter Jackson confirmed there had been ""significant interest"" in a number of senior Essendon players and said that under the right circumstances, some deals could be struck in the next four days. ""There is still four days to go and a lot can change in that space of time,"" Jackson said.

Jackson re-iterated that the club didn't believe it was fair on players or clubs to discuss the specifics of any prospective trades. ""Discussions yesterday were quite productive but they should remain confidential as far as this club is concerned,"" Jackson said. ""We have some salary cap pressures and the match committee also feels we need to make some structural changes to the list. It obviously depends on what other clubs are prepared to do and that is what the next few days is all about.""

The AFL's official trade period started yesterday at Optus Oval with all clubs meeting to discuss trades. The trade period officially ends on Monday, October 28th with completed deals to be lodged with the AFL by 2.00pm. Essendon coach Kevin Sheedy has now returned from overseas to get involved in trade discussions. BomberLand users will be the first to hear of any trades that become official.
