Essendon interim Coach Matthew Egan has praised the work of the club’s development staff in aiding the progression of Jayden Laverde.
The 19 year old has played the last six matches in the senior side after making his debut in the win over Melbourne.
“The development guys have done a fantastic job with Jayden,” Egan said.
“Hopefully he has a good game for us this week as well.”
Laverde has averaged 18 possessions throughout the last three matches.
On a disappointing day for the side against Adelaide last week, he continued his impressive start to his career.
Laverde ended the match with 20 possessions, eight marks and a goal.
“He’s a bull and when he sees the ball he really goes after it,” Egan said
“That’s why he’s had such a great game last week, we were under pressure last week and he was one that stood up because he just keeps attacking the ball.”
Laverde was taken with the Bombers second pick (number 20 overall) in last year’s National Draft.
He has played every game since making his debut against the Demons.
