Essendon has passed its 2016 membership total more than two weeks ahead of the start of the season.
The Bombers membership total stands at 57,602, surpassing last year’s final tally of 57,577.
The Club is now turning its attention to reaching another landmark ahead of the round one blockbuster against Hawthorn at the MCG.
“We have now got more members signed up and registered than we had all of last year,” Chairman Lindsay Tanner said.
“We are on track to break the 60,000-mark for round one, there is no guarantee that will happen but it does increase the expectation and we’re all hoping we break our membership record.
“This is a great platform from which to start.”
The Bombers best membership figure was achieved in 2015 when 61,317 members signed on.
