Senior coach, John Worsfold, has made one change to the team to take on Collingwood at the MCG on Saturday afternoon.
David Myers makes his return to the senior line up, replacing Kyle Langford who has been omitted.
Worsfold said Myers strong form in the VFL over the past fortnight had earned him a recall.
“We’ve been really pleased with how Mysey has gone about it, and he found plenty of the footy,” Worsfold said.
“He’s a very important part of our squad, and coming back in now we’re really confident he’s going to contribute at the level we need him to.”
Myers not only brings a physical presence to the midfield, but his strength and pressure around the contest will hopefully help the Bombers midfield win plenty of the football.
“Collingwood has been maintaining possession a lot in their last four or five weeks. They’ve been using the ball well going forward and been getting some good inside fifties,” Worsfold said.
“We’re going to have to be a lot more switched on defensively than we were last week in terms of putting them under pressure and getting the ball back off them.”
Worsfold said the focus on the track this week has been getting back to basics.
And he believes Saturday’s game is a great opportunity for the playing group to respond to last week’s disappointing loss.
“We are very clear that we had a game where we were off, and we are all accountable to that.”
“We want to get back to playing our brand of football and we know that’s good enough to match up against very good teams.”
“We’re really excited about the footy we’ve been building towards playing this year, it was a massive setback last week, but we don’t feel like we need a number of weeks to get back to playing our best of footy.”
“We want to show that to everyone who comes along and gets behind us this week. We want to get a good band of Essendon supporters along and rebound with us.”
Josh Begley, Kyle Langford and Ben Howlett have been named as emergencies.
