Essendon midfielder David Myers will undergo surgery on his injured shoulder tomorrow.
Myers made the decision after consulting with Club doctor Bruce Reid and surgeon Mr Greg Hoy this evening.
Dr Reid said the procedure could enable Myers to be back playing within twelve weeks.
“Mr Grey Hoy will operate on David’s shoulder tomorrow,” Reid said.
“David will have a bone block and screws inserted into the shoulder, and we could expect to see him back playing as soon as twelve weeks.”
Myers said he is confident he can make a successful return to the team by the second half of the season.
“I made the decision to have surgery after weighing up all the evidence that Dr Bruce Reid and Greg Hoy put on the table,” Myers said.
“The upside of the procedure is I’ll be able to get back into running within three to four weeks, and hopefully playing after twelve weeks.”
“I want to make a positive impact on the team when I return, and the operation will give me the best chance to play my role and help the team push for finals.”
