VFL Co-Coach Paul Corrigan says it can be a challenge managing AFL players as they return from injury through the VFL.
David Myers is set for VFL action after overcoming a minor knee complaint, while Paul Chapman and Heath Hocking are expected to see more game time in their second consecutive VFL match following injury.
“It’s a bit of a juggling act, but we try and get them through as much game time as possible that it suited to them coming back in,” he said.
Corrigan said the team would adjust accordingly.
“Sometimes it might mean more rotations per quarter and shorter periods on the ground.
“And we look at that during the week with what we have then adjust to that.”
“We’ve managed it pretty well throughout the year and on the weekend will be no different.”
It’s a crucial game for the VFL Bombers as they fight to secure a spot in the top-four with just five games remaining.
Their opponents, Footscray Bulldogs, sit just one game behind
“They’re a quality side, obviously last year’s premiers, so we’re really looking forward to the challenge and see where we are at,” Corrigan said.
“They’ve had a number of guys go through that VFL side throughout the year, so they will be quite a strong side again on Sunday.”
You can watch the game LIVE on Channel Seven from 11.30am on Sunday.
