Warnie from The Traders, AFL.com.au’s NAB AFL Fantasy experts, will be taking a look at the Bombers each week exclusive to essendonfc.com.au.
LAST WEEK
What an awesome win against the Hawks! Dyson Heppell (MID, $616,000) backed up from his 111 last week with 34 disposals and 129 Fantasy points. He is the fifth highest scoring midfielder in the competition. Heppell’s popularity is growing off the back of injuries to key players such as Tom Rockliff and Stelle Sidebottom and the lower scores than expected from Gary Ablett and Dayne Beams.
Last goal hero Cale Hooker (DEF, $446,000) took 10 marks to help his score to 117, while forward Zach Merrett (FWD, $408,000) laid seven tackles to rack up 116 points.
The Bombers were one of the highest scoring Fantasy teams of the weekend, totalling 1806 points to Hawthorn’s 1547.
TOP 5 SCORERS V HAWTHORN
- 129 - Dyson Heppell (MID, $616,000)
- 117 - Cale Hooker (DEF, $446,000)
- 116 - Zach Merrett (MID, $408,000)
- 104 - Jake Melksham (FWD/MID, $393,000)
- 103 - Jobe Watson (MID, $577,000)
ON THE RADAR
My favourite Don and Mr. Consistent when it comes to Fantasy is Michael Hibberd (DEF, $483,000). Due to a tough start against the Swans, Hibbo’s price is down $23K from where it started. He finished with 91 points on Sunday and he won’t be getting too much cheaper. Jump on now.
Jake Melksham (FWD/MID, $393,000) has already increased $44K off the back of 95 in round one and 104 against the Hawks. Going into this week with a breakeven of just 27, Melksham could be a great unique option to bring into your forward line as less than 2% of coaches own him.
A breakeven of 30 sees Tom Bellchambers (FWD/RUC, $302,000) one of Essendon’s top cash cows this season. He has added $21K to his value thus far and he is projected to add another $16K after round three.
WHAT’S COMING UP
The Bombers have got the Blues on Saturday afternoon. Last time they met, not one Essendon player cracked the Fantasy ton with Brent Stanton the best with 99 points.
Calrton gave up quite a few points last week against the Eagles. Josh Kennedy (141) kicked 10 goals with Luke Shuey (119) and Andrew Gaff (115) able to post big scores. Hopefully our midfielders are able to get off the chain and we see Heppell reach his projected score of 110.
