With a number of senior players still overcoming injuries, Essendon is set to once again field a youthful line-up.

The Bombers take on North Melbourne tomorrow night.

Last week, the Dons had 12 players with 40 or less AFL matches under their belt.

But they were still able to get home against Melbourne by nine points.

“I thought last week’s performance was great from the young group and probably the enthusiasm and intensity around the ball was terrific,” Essendon Coach James Hird said.

“The way they all played together we loved watching.

“We need that enthusiasm to come again and the way they approached the game again.

“One week doesn’t make a season.”

The Kangaroos are coming off a win against Geelong and last week fielded a side with 1,300 games more AFL experience than the Bombers.

Todd Goldstein is one of the in-form ruckman in the competition and has helped give the Kangaroos first use of the ball out of the middle.

The side is ranked number three for centre clearances this season and fourth for goals kicked.

“With the ball in their hand, they’re hard to stop,” Hird said.

“We need to work pretty hard on that and get enough footy ourselves around the contest.

“If we let North Melbourne have a lot of the ball, then there’s a fair chance it will be a hard night for us.”
