Essendon is about half way through the analysis of its football program as the club attempts to identify areas needing improvement.

The Bombers announced last week they were undertaking an examination of the structures and processes currently in place.

“Every organisation should review its performance,” General Manager of Football Operations Rob Kerr said.

“Even if you’re performing particularly well, you want to find where you can gain the next 10% in terms of your performance.

“We’re not performing, we’re not having the year we would have liked to have had.

“So it’s only reasonable that we review one; our performance and two; how we’re structured and try to and find opportunities to get some quick gains.”

The analysis began a couple of weeks ago with staff offering feedback on what has been working well and what areas can be improved.

“This has been something Xavier (Campbell) as CEO has been discussing with Neal (Craig) and I as the GM’s in the footy department for the last five or six weeks,” Kerr said.

“We’re probably half way through in terms of the internal review and then all the data will be pulled together and we’ll try and look for themes, that’s going to be the real core of the review process.”
