Warnie from The Traders, AFL.com.au’s NAB AFL Fantasy experts, will be taking a look at the Bombers each week exclusive to essendonfc.com.au.
LAST WEEK
The Tigers continued to be one of the hardest Fantasy teams to score against restricting the Bombers to 1527 points and only one player scoring over 100.
That man was Brent Stanton who found the ball 29 times for his 103 points. The midfielder is enjoying one of his best seasons averaging 105.4 points and playing in every game.
FWD/MID Brendon Goddard (99) racked up 27 disposals to be an important player while Mark Baguley (92) finished with 18 disposals and 7 tackles.
In Paul Chapman’s last game, the forward went out with a very Chapman-like performance laying 11 tackles to go with his 19 touches for 91 points. We should remember the Fantasy legend for his career at Geelong where he averaged a whopping 113 and 114 points in 2009 and 2010. Chapman also averaged 92 points last year in his first season in the red and black.
Popular Bombers Dyson Heppell (88) and Michael Hibberd (58) were down on their season average.
TOP 5 SCORERS V RICHMOND
- 103 – Brent Stanton (MID, $581,000)
- 99 – Brendon Goddard (FWD/MID, $542,000)
- 92 – Mark Baguley (DEF, $402,000)
- 91 – Paul Chapman (FWD, $336,000)
- 90 – Cale Hooker (DEF/FWD, $460,000)
WHAT’S COMING UP
The Bombers close season 2015 with a match against arch rivals Collingwood at the MCG.
Last time they met, Dyson Heppell (138) and Brent Stanton (130) pumped out 33 and 30 disposals respectively in a high scoring Fantasy game. Brendon Goddard (113), Cale Hooker (104), Michael Hibberd (104) and Mark Baguley (103) topped the Fantasy ton.
It should once again be a high scoring game and bringing in a Bomber for your Fantasy Grand Final this weekend would be a great idea.
SEASON WRAP
Midfielder Brent Stanton has scored the most Fantasy points for the Bombers this year with 2213 ahead of Dyson Heppell (2150) and Brendon Goddard (2119). The trio all averaged over the magical Fantasy ton.
Nick O’Brien has been the biggest money earner for the Dons, increasing $234K over his nine games. His season average of 71.1 made him very valuable after starting at $120K. FWD/RUC Shaun McKernan added $185K.
Next year we will be able to pick up plenty of Bombers cheaper than what their possible output will be. Jobe Watson averaged 88.8, over 15 points less than in 2014, making him a bargain for next season. Michael Hibberd and David Zaharakis are also worth looking at for under-priced guns in 2016.
