Essendon’s coaching panel led by senior coach James Hird joined players visiting local clubs in the Sunbury region during the first day of the club’s 2015 Australia Post Community Camp.

The playing group took part in school visits during the first day of the camp before attending a number of local training sessions to share their knowledge with the rising stars of the area.

Hird joined a number of his star players including Dyson Heppell, Paul Chapman and Adam Cooney to take the Sunbury Lions under 18’s side through a training session.

James Hird directs traffic at a local training session at Clarke Oval in Sunbury.

Assistant coaches Mark Harvey, Nathan Bassett and Matthew Egan also ran training sessions for the various local junior sides throughout the region.

Following the session the players and coaches attended a function to raise money for the local community.

Day two of the camp will see a super clinic run in the Gisborne region before a lunch with the community of Gisborne and further school visits.

The players touch on a number of different topics during their school visits including healthy eating, leadership and choosing a career path.
