Essendon supporter Bailee has lived out every young fans dream spending an hour with captain Jobe Watson and midfielder David Zaharakis on day one of the club's Australia Post Community Camp.

Bailee won the Australia Post promotion run in the Sunbury Leader throughout January giving him the chance to meet his heroes.

The 16-year-old from Sunbury Downs College has played football for Rupertswood for the last seven years.

Captain Jobe Watson said it was a pleasure to be able to spend some time with the young Bombers fan.

“Bailee was an Australia Post winner so both David and I came down to do some training with him,” Watson said.

“He is coming back from an ankle reconstruction so we weren’t able to do a lot but we tried to pass on some wisdom to him.”

Watson said the club’s annual Community Camp was an important event in the football calendar.

“I know when you go out to rural areas how appreciative people are about coming out there to see them and how much they love their footy,” he said.

“I think it is important to engage with people in these communities with a lot of them being supporters that don’t necessarily get the opportunity to get to games but they still support the club.

“It is one of those things that as a player you really enjoy doing.”

Essendon will spend the next two days in the Sunbury, Riddell and Macedon Ranges region as part of their 2015 Australia Post Community Camp.

Day two of the camp includes visits the local schools, football clubs and a dinner to raise money for the local community.
