The home and away season may have come to an end, but Essendon CEO Xavier Campbell is expecting a busy period over the next few months.
The Club is continuing its search for a Senior Coach and is also preparing for the start of the WADA appeal hearing.
“We’re at a point now where by Christmas we’re going to be a very different football club,” Campbell told Triple M yesterday.
“The WADA/CAS process will be behind us, we’ll have a new Coach, a new direction, a new vision and also a new Chairman.
“It doesn’t mean that the next three months is going to be easy – it’s not.
“But it’s exciting for the future.”
The Club has just completed its third straight season under the gaze of an ASADA and now WADA spotlight.
Campbell said he remains confident in the players’ position and is looking forward to entering a trade and draft period free from AFL sanctions.
“We’ve been compromised by so many aspects,” he said.
“We’re a unique football club for all the challenges we’ve faced over the last three years.
“By Christmas those challenges can be behind us.”
Despite the off-field pressure and on-field results, 2015 has yielded record sponsorship and record membership.
The Club is also ranked fourth for attendances this season.
“To all our fans out there, thank you for the support,” Campbell told AFL Live.
“You guys are the most fantastic supporter base in the country and for that we’re forever grateful.
“We’ve got record membership, we’ve got a great facility.
“There is a lot to look forward to.”
