Josh Green’s first match against his former Brisbane teammates will have to wait after the small forward was ruled out of this week’s game with a hamstring injury.
The 24 year old was part of the Dons new look forward line in the win over Hawthorn last Saturday.
Deep into the last quarter he felt some tightness and subsequent scans have confirmed he’ll miss two games.
“Josh Green was sprinting late in the game – he felt tight in his hamstring, came off and we didn’t end up bringing him back on,” High Performance Manager Justin Crow said.
“We’ve had the hamstring scanned and what he’s got is the lowest grade hamstring strain where the fascia around the outside of the muscle is interrupted.
“There is no real muscle fibre disruption which is a good thing but the bad news for ‘Greeny’ is he won’t be available against Brisbane.
“Normally with these injuries players miss two games.”
Green picked up 11 possessions, took four marks and drove the ball inside 50 four times in the Bombers win over Hawthorn.
He’d worked hard to ensure he was fully fit for the season opener after spending time on a modified training program before Christmas.
His absence will reduce the Bombers fleet of small forwards to three.
Green, Orazio Fantasia, Travis Colyer and Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti had ten inside 50’s and five goal assists between them last week.
