Warnie from The Traders, AFL.com.au’s NAB AFL Fantasy experts, will be taking a look at the Bombers each week exclusive to essendonfc.com.au.
LAST WEEK
The Bombers scored a much needed win on Saturday afternoon at the MCG as Brent Stanton racked up 30 disposals for 144 points.
The midfielder was the sole Essendon player to top the Fantasy ton, however the boys combined for 1521 points to Melbourne’s 1438 to take the Fantasy honours as well.
Dyson Heppell (94) received heavy attention from Jack Viney while Joe Daniher’s five goal haul helped him to 93 points.
Playing his first match since 2012, Alex Browne (30) was concussed as he started to turn it on in the second quarter. The defender maintains a very low price and would be a worthy selection if he can hold his place in the team.
TOP 5 SCORERS V MELBOURNE
- 114 – Brent Stanton (MID, $552,000)
- 99 – Michael Hurley (DEF, $435,000)
- 94 – Dyson Heppell (MID, $561,000)
- 93 – Joe Daniher (FWD, $324,000)
- 89 – Brendon Goddard (FWD/MID, $509,000)
ON THE RADAR
Nick O’Brien added $35K to this price off the back of his 75 point game. Consider the midfielder as a sub-$200K player for your bench. Shaun Edwards is also a consideration down back at $203K. He scored a handy 62 which sees his breakeven remains a low 21.
While Browne is probably the downgrade pick of the week for the Bombers, Shaun McKernan continues to make good money. The RUC/FWD has now increased $109K and has been selected by almost a quarter of the competition.
WHAT’S COMING UP
Friday night the Bombers return to Etihad Stadium to take on the Roos.
In round seven, North Melbourne won the game by 11 points. Dyson Heppell was the best of the boys in the red and black finding the ball 29 times while laying five tackles. He finished on 125 Fantasy points, topping all players in the match.
Heppell would make a good captain this week in NAB AFL Fantasy Match Day. Pick your team of seven players at http://fantasy.afl.com.au before the bounce on Friday night for you chance to win $10,000.
