The Bombers gave it their all in the last match before the much needed bye, going down to the Giants by 27 points at Etihad Stadium. The endeavour from the boys could not be doubted as they took the Fantasy spoils, 1615 to 1566.
The highlight of the game, especially in the first half, was Orazio Fantasia. Playing out of the forward pocket on Sunday, Raz kicked 4.4 to help him to 78 Fantasy points at the main break. He added another 12 points before sitting out a large chunk of the second half due to a head knock.
Adam Cooney has been quietly getting the job done. Almost averaging 90 points for the season, his 25 disposal game which included 12 marks and five tackles helped him to a season-high 126 points.
In what may have been his last game for many Fantasy coaches, Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti had a quite first half before adding 27 and 34 points in the third and fourth quarters respectively. After making $184K and with Essendon’s bye this week, now is the right time to upgrade Walla to a premium defender. Preferably to a gun coming off their bye such as Kade Simpson, Sam Docherty or Rory Laird. It wouldn’t be the worst idea to hold onto him, but as a Fantasy coach, we have to make the big calls even if we enjoy watching our boys in the red and black run around.
Walla is the third most traded out player so far this week with coaches moving on the cash cow. Another Don who is high on the trade list is Matt Dea. He has increased a whopping $207K and at $377,000, a trade to a premium doesn’t require a lot of cash.
Following Dea and Walla’s huge price rises, Kyle Langford has increased $144K while Mitch Brown (+$119K), Ryan Crowley (+$100K), Adam Cooney (+$96K) and Darcy Parish (+$94K) have also been profitable selections.
Essendon has the bye this week ready to attack the last nine games of the season. Zach Merrett is the highest averaging Bomber with 113.5 points per game followed by Brendon Goddard (101.4), James Kelly (100.4) and David Zaharakis (97.4).
