The praise keeps rolling in for Orazio Fantasia and Patrick Ambrose, who have both been named in the AFL’s team of the week.

Announced earlier today, the duo’s outstanding performance against the GWS Giants on Sunday did not go unnoticed by AFL.com.au’s writers.

Ambrose was named in the back pocket, while Fantasia was named as a half-forward.

It is another step forward for Ambrose who has reinvented himself as a defender in 2016, proving to be a reliable option down back.

The 24-year-old has been tasked with a number of high profile opponents and has successfully nullified the impact of Jack Riewoldt, Matthew Pavlich and Nick Riewoldt in the past few weeks.

He continued his good form this week restricting star Giants’ forward, Jeremy Cameron, to just two goals.

At the other end of the ground, Fantasia proved to be a handful for the Giants’ defenders – kicking four goals in what was one of his best performances to date.

Vote for Fantasia in this week's GoTY competition

It seems as though the youngster has found his place in front of goals, after being trialed in a number of positions so far in 2016.

Fantasia sits third on the club’s goal kicking list, with 14 goals from 12 games.

AFL.com.au's Adam Curley wrote the following:

Essendon took it right up to GWS thanks to Orazio Fantasia's exciting play inside 50 and the defensive work of Patrick Ambrose.

Patrick Ambrose - The young defender kept star Giant Jeremy Cameron to just two goals as the young Bombers gave the visitors a massive scare at Etihad Stadium.

Orazio Fantasia - The plucky small forward ran rings around the Giants to finish with 4.4 for the day, and only his finishing tarnished the memorable performance.
