Both Adam Ramanauskas and Mark McVeigh will be free to play against the Western Bulldogs this weekend despite being found guilty to striking charges stemming from last Saturday night’s game against Carlton. The Club this afternoon opted not to contest the charges.

Adam Ramanauskas, Essendon, has been charged with a Level One striking offence against Eddie Betts, Carlton, during the third quarter of the Round Three match between Essendon and Carlton, played at the MCG on Saturday April 5, 2008.

In summary, he can accept a reprimand and 45 points towards his future record.

The incident was assessed as negligent conduct (one point), low impact (one point) and high contact (two points). This is a total of four activation points, resulting in a classification of a Level One offence, drawing 80 demerit points and a reprimand. He has an existing five-year good record, which reduces the penalty by 25 per cent to 60 demerit points and a reprimand. An early plea reduces the penalty by 25 per cent to a reprimand and 45 points towards his future record.

Mark McVeigh, Essendon, has been charged with a Level One striking offence against Brendan Fevola, Carlton, during the fourth quarter of the Round Three match between Essendon and Carlton, played at the MCG on Saturday April 5, 2008.

In summary, he can accept a reprimand and 74.38 points towards his future record with an early plea.

The incident was assessed as negligent conduct (one point), low impact (one point) and high contact (two points). This is a total of four activation points, resulting in a classification of a Level One offence, drawing 80 demerit points and a reprimand. He has a total of two matches suspended within the last three years, increasing the penalty by 20 per cent to 96 demerit points.
