Essendon Football Club has made two additional changes to its playing list after the first list lodgement today.
Ben McNiece, recruited in 2017 as an inaugural Next Generation Academy player, has re-committed to the Club for a further year.
McNiece debuted on ANZAC Day and played two senior games for the season before a neck injury kept him sidelined for the remainder of the year.
“Ben began his career with Essendon in the VFL side, before he was signed with the Bombers in 2017 as a Category B Rookie,” List and Recruiting Manager, Adrian Dodoro said.
“In his several seasons in the red and black he has continued to develop on and off the field, displaying key values the club strives for.
“Ben’s attitude after being injured during the 2017 season has been commendable. His efforts to rehabilitate his body have been outstanding and make him a highly respected player at the Club.
“We are excited to see him back at his best next year and believe he will be a great addition to the Dons line-up.”
Alex Morgan advised the club he would like to seek further opportunities at an alternative club.
Morgan was recruited from the Oakleigh Chargers in the 2015 Draft but has been unable to break into the senior side in his two years with the Bombers.
“We offered Alex a one year contract extension but he has indicated to us that he wants to seek other opportunities,” Dodoro said.
“We respect his decision, wish him all the best for the future and thank him for his time at the Bombers.”
