Joe Daniher says the Bombers can’t afford to let the disappointment of the loss to Sydney linger.
Essendon gave up a 19-point lead late in the last quarter, before the Swans kicked the final three goals of the match to win by one point.
Daniher said the Bombers will learn some valuable lessons from the final minutes of the game but also acknowledged it’s important to move on.
“It was a really disappointing result for us, if we had our time again we would have done things a little bit differently,” he said.
“But it’s a fantastic learning opportunity and I dare say the next time we face that position we’ll handle the situation a bit better.
“The Swans are a fantastic team, they’re probably the most in form team in the competition, playing a really good brand of footy with arguably the best midfield in the competition.
“It’s more now how we act on that and how we learn from it and take it into the rest of the season.
“You can’t dwell on these things otherwise they spiral out and last a few weeks.
“We got back on the track, trained hard and trained well.
“It’s all about moving forward to Brisbane now and getting another opportunity on Sunday afternoon and we’re really looking forward to that.”
Daniher has signed a new contract with the Bombers that will ensure he remains with the Club until at least the end of 2020.
“We’re on the right path, we’ve got a really good blend of young talent coming through matched with some pretty good experience,” Daniher said.
“We’re on a journey now and hopefully that’s going on an upward direction and I’m confident with what we can achieve in the coming years.
“Being an Essendon person and growing up at the Football Club, I always intended to spend a lot of time here and I’m really thankful that the Club put a lot of faith in me since I got here as a young player and I’m glad they’ve continued that.”
