The last quarter

Any win interstate is a good win, particularly when you’re trailing in the last quarter.

The Lions had all the momentum when they hit the front on the back of a nine goal to two run that saw them overhaul a 42-point margin.

But the Bombers responded and closed out the game with five unanswered goals.

The run of Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti high up the ground was particularly important.

The first half

The Bombers showcased some of their best ball use for some time during a 27-minute patch that yielded eight goals.

During this run the Bombers won 12 out of 14 clearances and also recorded ten of the first 14 inside 50’s in the second quarter.

Zach Merrett

After two games Zach Merrett leads the competition for kicks. His work rate was impressive in the win over the Lions with his overlap run causing problems for the opposition defence.

Orazio Fantasia

The small forward booted five goals for the Bombers to take his tally for the season to nine. He mixes a burst of speed with endurance and agility with a nice aerial game.

Fantasia also had three goal assists.

Travis Colyer

After 15 possessions in his comeback match in round one, Travis Colyer picked up 27 against the Lions. He also had three rebounds from the defensive 50 and two clearances.
