Essendon Football Club is currently exploring a number of growth opportunities to strengthen its business model.

Basketball and the National Basketball League (NBL) has been identified as one possible opportunity to grow the Club’s supporter base, commercial business opportunities and build the Essendon brand. This could involve the creation of a new team or an alignment with an existing team in the NBL.

Importantly, any future business decision made by the Club will be in alignment with its values, vision and governance procedures. It will not, in any way, compromise the key objectives, resourcing and investment in the Club’s core business of football.

The Club has consulted with a wide range of internal and external key stakeholders, and independent business analysts as part of a thorough due diligence process which will properly and responsibly evaluate this opportunity.
