Star Bomber Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti’s sensational season has been rewarded with two 2019 AFL Fan Awards and a position as a finalist in the 2019 AFL Coates Hire Goal of the Year.
A night after claiming the fan-voted awards for 2019 Fan Favourite and Clutch Play (for his classy, heart-stopping, match-winning goal against North Melbourne in round 17), the immensely popular forward has been announced as one of the three finalists for the goal of the year.
McDonald-Tipungwuti’s goal of the week from round three against Melbourne was selected by the AFL All Australian committee as one of the three best goals booted in the home and away season, alongside Adelaide’s Eddie Betts and West Coast’s Willie Rioli.
The brilliant goalkicker cast a spell over the Demons’ defenders back on April 5, reading the play intelligently to gather the ball deep in the right forward pocket before turning his opponents inside out and snapping truly for the remarkable goal.
