A fun-filled clinic was held for the children and families of the Royal Children’s Hospital as the Good Friday Appeal nears kick off.

Through the clubs partnership with Challenge, Essendon has a deep connection to the Royal Children’s Hospital, and with the AFL side set to play West Coast on Good Friday, it was the perfect opportunity to host a fun filled Bomber Kids Program and bring smiles to the kids & families of RCH.

The aim of the Bomber Kids Program is to help promote physical activity and participation, whilst developing life skills, such as communication, language, and social development.

With some of the children currently undergoing treatment, the clinic came as a welcomed distraction. Those attending had the chance to meet some of their football heroes, including Jye Caldwell, Matt Guelfi, Zak Johnson, Archer Day-Wicks, Alexandra Morcom, Sophie Van De Heuvel and Courtney Murphy.

“Spending the afternoon with the kids and their families at the Royal children’s hospital and seeing those smiles on their faces was incredibly enjoyable and heartwarming. It really puts things into perspective."

"If you're able to, I encourage you to consider donating to the Royal Children's Hospital and help them continue their amazing work in bringing joy and care to these brave children and their families." AFL mid-fielder, Jye Caldwell said.

The clinic was held in support of the Good Friday Appeal, which has been uniting the Victorian community since 1931 to raise funds for The Royal Children’s Hospital. Over $468 million has been raised to date, helping fund world-class care, groundbreaking research, cutting-edge medical technology, and training.

"Being at the Royal Children's Hospital was a truly amazing experience. Seeing the resilience and spirit of the children, and the dedication of the staff who care for them, was incredibly inspiring."

"It was a privilege to spend some time with them and witness those smiles. Your contribution this Good Friday can bring comfort, support, and hope to these amazing kids and their families." AFLW defender, Alex Morcom.

No matter the size, every donation makes a big difference. This Good Friday, the public are reminded to give and support however they can, because it all adds up.

The 2025 Good Friday Appeal will take place this Friday, April 18, donate here today.
