With AFLW only weeks away, a new piece of art was revealed at the iconic Windy Hill yesterday, with Essendon midfielder Maddy Prespakis now proudly on the walls of Napier St.
With imagery depicting Prespakis wearing the red sash with pride, thanks to TRADIE, the mural celebrates AFLW and the home of the Bombers, Windy Hill.
Prespakis and her teammates will be ready to kick off their 2024 campaign on Saturday, August 31, when they take on Fremantle at the iconic venue.
Joined by TRADIE ambassador Sam Draper, who has his own mural next to Prespakis, the pair were proud to unveil the new addition to the historic Windy Hill and celebrate the start of AFLW season.
Prespakis and Draper were joined by Merri-bek All Girls Auskick Program to celebrate the launch, with TRADIE giving away 50 tickets to the Bombers’ round one clash with Fremantle.
A lifelong Bombers fan, Prespakis was emotional when talking about what it means to be on the walls of the Bombers’ heartland venue.
“It’s a surreal feeling. It’s well documented that I’m a Bombers supporter since I was a little girl and used to come here to watch them train and then to be a player here and now on the wall at Windy Hill,”
“You walk along Napier St and look at the tiles along the path of people who have come here. It’s a real historic place, and it’s a place I’m really proud to be a part of, especially now as part of the fabric at Windy Hill and our AFLW program.
“I looked at Sam’s all last year so to now be up next him, it’s very cool.”
12,000 fans flooded through the gates of Windy Hill across the Bombers’ four home games last year, and Prespakis can’t wait to see even more throughout 2024.
“I love playing at Windy Hill and we know oppositions find it hard to play us here,” Prespakis said.
“We have a practice match here this weekend and have four games here throughout the season so can’t wait to see Bombers fans Fill the Hill again in 2024.”
Tradie Founder and CEO Ben Goodfellow established the brand in 2010 to add personality, humour and functionality to the underwear market.
Goodfellow said he is looking forward to seeing the AFLW Bombers in action during the upcoming season.
“I’m really excited to see what the Essendon AFLW team can achieve this season,” Goodfellow said.
“It’s also great to have the TRADIE logo etched on the wall outside Windy Hill, alongside Maddy Prespakis.”
