Essendon are thrilled to announce a new partnership program with St Bernard’s College as part of the club’s continuing education strategy.
The EFC Academy (EFCA) will see year 11-12 students from St Bernard’s College presented with the opportunity to study subjects developed in collaboration between the club and college, revolving around the three units of ‘AFL Elite Lifestyle’, ‘Footy Development’, and ‘The Business of Sport’ as delivered by teachers from the college.
As part of the program, work experience and match day opportunities will be readily available for students during the course, with successful graduation from the EFCA at the conclusion of year 12 granting students entry into the Essendon Education Academy (EEA) for the following year.
Providing an alternative to the traditional routes of tertiary education, the program gives a 360-degree view of what it entails working in a professional environment through an AFL lens, ideal for those interested in the sporting sphere.
Essendon Chief Strategy and Growth Officer Mark Bolton lauded the potential of the partnership, as well as the opportunities for student development ahead.
“We’re really excited to announce this partnership with St Bernard’s College, who already play a key role in the growth of students in our local area,” Bolton said.
“As a club, we’re committed to providing opportunities for young people in our region. The EFCA will be invaluable for any student keen on finding their feet in the sporting industry or looking for a point of difference from the typical tertiary pathways.
“The first info night will be a great chance for students and parents to visit the club and see the doors this program can open for them.”
The EFCA info night will take place on Tuesday, July 16 at the NEC Hangar, beginning at 7pm.
