Essendon has named their side to take on the Pies in a massive edition of Friday night footy at the 'G.

Round 17's side will see experienced midfielder Dylan Shiel will make his second appearance at AFL level this season off the back of terrific VFL performances over the last fortnight, while reliable defender Jake Kelly is also back after a bout of illness kept him out of action last week.

Dynamic draftee Nate Caddy has been named for his third career game, looking to build off the enticing form he showcased in the win over West Coast a fortnight ago.

Veterans Dyson Heppell and Todd Goldstein have each been managed this weekend, while Jye Menzie has been omitted for the side.

With Vice-Captain Andrew McGrath lining up for his 150th game, the Bombers will be raring to bounce back from last week's defeat and look to solidify their top four place against the Pies, an opponent which already provided a classic finish in the drawn Anzac Day clash earlier this season.

With this fixture being declared a sell-out, no general admission member scan-ins will be available on the night.

Friday's action will kick off from the MCG at 7:40pm AEST.
