In an exciting step for Essendon’s AFLW program, the club is thrilled to announce that nine players have signed two-year contracts.
Amber Clarke, Georgia Nanscawen, Ellyse Gamble, Mia Busch, Georgia Clarke and Mia Van Dyke will all be in the red and black until at least the end of 2025.
Recruit Bess Keaney, expansion pre-signing Amy Gaylor and draftee Emily Gough have also signed on.
AFLW List and Recruiting Manager Georgia Harvey said the club was thrilled to have the group commit for the next two years.
“We are really excited to have the nine players sign on for the next two years, which is a fantastic reflection of the program and environment we have established at the club to have these players commit,” Harvey said.
“Across the past two seasons, we’ve seen our playing group grow and develop as both people and players while continuously contributing to the team environment and broader program.
“The calibre of people in this group help to drive the standards and expectations we set as a club and are all focused on developing as players and a team.
“With the new CBA, AFLW players can now sign multi-year contracts, in line with the AFL competition. This is fantastic for the players and the club in planning our list for the future and providing extended certainty for our athletes.”
It has been an exciting week for Essendon’s AFLW program. Bonnie Toogood, Maddy Prespakis, Steph Wales, and Sophie Van De Heuvel have committed to at least the next four years, and Steph Cain, Georgia Gee, and Maddi Gay have signed on for at least the next three seasons.
