Essendon vice-captain and 1993 Norm Smith Medallist Michael Long will miss this weekend's Grand Final after tearing his hamstring at training tonight. Long had been training for about 15 minutes when he felt his hamstring give way - he pulled up immediately and walked off the track knowing his season was finished. It is a tragic blow for Long who had worked exceptionally hard to return to football three weeks ago after overcoming a knee injury. A disappointed Essendon coach Kevin Sheedy told the waiting media of Long's injury before heading inside at the end of training.
