Q: It has been a long time coming, you must be just so excited?
A: I guess so, we started pre-season back in December and my goal was to get some fitness and hopefully play some consistent football in the twos but the opportunity has come. It is very exciting but the most important thing is that we win.
Q: There is a lot of proud history at this club – it must be a proud moment for you and also for Tim?
A: I think mum and dad and pretty proud - they are probably a bit more excited than I am. They have said that they get pretty nervous before games. It is good way to bring the extended family together – I think everyone is pretty excited.
Q: Susie (Jobe's mother) and your sisters must be excited as well?
A: I have three younger sisters and they are not too interested in football but I'm sure they will go along with mum. I don't talk to mum too much about football so I'm not sure how she is feeling about it.
Q: How are you feeling right now?
A: As I said I'm pretty excited and you pinch yourself and wonder if it is really happening. It will be good to get the game out of the way. I have spoken to some players and they say there is so much of a build up for the first game that it can get a bit easier once it is out of the way.
Q: Are there good and bad things about having a name like Watson at this club?
A: I guess so. The club has been fantastic about everything and I have been no different to any other draftee with the coaches and other players. I have been copping a bit on Bombers Backyard (club show on Foxtel) where they think I am Sheeds' pet.
Q: Tim must have been a huge influence on your career?
A: I think he is pretty excited about it and he often says he will get more enjoyment out of watching rather than playing. Everyone owes a lot to their parents and having been involved in football he has been able to teach me a lot.
Q: What is the number one lesson Tim has taught you?
A: Probably the balance in life and he has always underlined that football is just a part of life and that you have to remember careers can last such a short time nowadays. You need to find the right balance between football life, family and the other things you want to pursue.
Q: Family is obviously important to you?
A: When it comes down to it, family is one of those things that will always stand by you no matter what- they will always be there for you and that bond is pretty hard to break.
Q: What was your immediate reaction when Kevin told you there was a very good chance you would play this weekend?
A: We had our mid-year reviews with some of the coaches and that is where he suggested that there was a good chance I would play. That was pretty exciting and then I had to make sure I did everything right over the break and I have to train well this week. It was exciting to know I was in with a chance.
Q: The bye couldn't have come at a worse time?
A: I was pretty happy the bye came along to be honest – the body needed the break. My body is okay – it was used to playing cricket in summer not doing football training and that takes its toll but it is all part of getting used to the football lifestyle.
Q: What will you be like pre-game on Friday?
A: I guess the first thing will be making sure I get to the right ground. I have a bit of trouble following the Melways sometimes. It is hard to judge how I will feel –nervous excitement I suppose. I have dreamed about this for a long time.
Q: You must be proud that the Watson name lives on?
A: I have never really dwelt on that, I just wanted to play footy. It wasn't so much carrying on the Watson name, it was doing what every kid loved to do. That is how I approached my football – it wasn't carrying on a legacy it was doing something I enjoyed.
Q: There is so much history at this club – you only need to walk around the Hall of Fame?
A: It is a pretty special place and it is a credit to everyone around the club because it takes a lot of work to get something like this up and running. It is a really good way to look at what it takes to play AFL football and to look at some of the names who have played at Essendon.
