Two of Essendon's more memorable home and away wins have come in round 16.
In 1993, a misfiring Paul Salmon held his nerve to kick truly late in the match against West Coast.
The goal gave the Bombers the win and prompted Kevin Sheedy to wave his jacket.
'Jacket waving' remains a part of Essendon and West Coast matches to this day.
Eight years later, Essendon and North Melbourne produced one of the most exciting clashes between the two sides.
It's known as ‘The Comeback’.
It was round 16 2001 and Essendon were on top of the ladder.
The side faced the Kangaroos who were battling for a spot in the eight.
A 12 goal to two opening term had North well on track for victory.
The margin blew out to 69 points when the Kangaroos kicked three of the first four goals in the second quarter.
But this was no ordinary Essendon side.
Led by Captain James Hird, the Bombers kicked ten goals to four in the second quarter to be in striking distance at the major break.
The shootout continued in the third quarter with the Bombers kicking seven goals to the Kangaroos six.
At the last change it was a 14-point deficit.
The Bombers kicked another eight goals in the final quarter to run out 12-point winners.
The final score was 27.9.171 to 25.9.159.
Matthew Lloyd kicked nine goals for the Bombers while Jason Johnson booted four and had 31 possessions.
