Essendon forward Jake Carlisle will return to take on Gold Coast at Etihad Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Carlisle missed last week's clash against the Eagles due to back spasms but has proven his fitness on the training track during the week.

Orazio Fanasia also comes into the side with Dyson Heppell (hand) and Jake Melksham (omitted) making way from the team that defeated West Coast last weekend.

Fantasia will line up for his secon game in the red and black after making his debut against Richmond in Round 20 with Ariel Steinberg also retaining his position in the side following his debut last weekend.
