Essendon and Collingwood will play in front of full house at the MCG on Friday night. The AFL advised late yesterday that all public area tickets for the Round 22 game have been sold out. The only remaining tickets are for standing room within the AFL Reserve and these are accessible to AFL members only. It is yet to be confirmed if the Nine Network will air the match live.
The jigsaw that is season 2003 is taking shape and Essendon coach Kevin Sheedy is starting to like what he sees. “The past 14 or so weeks have been better,” Sheedy said prior to training this afternoon. “We had a look at our side earlier in the year and have been trying to place where it was going – it is starting to fall into place a little bit which has been good.” Since Round 8, Essendon has won nine of 11 matches – a period that has seen it defeat other premiership aspirants West Coast, Brisbane and Fremantle.
