Essendon has agreed to a trade that will see Jake Stringer move to the GWS GIANTS next season, with the Bombers receiving pick 53 for the 30-year-old.

The deal was confirmed on Wednesday night, with Stringer departing the club after 123 games and 207 goals in the red and black.

Essendon will carry picks 28, 31, 40, 46, 53, 54 and 65 into next month’s 2024 Telstra National Draft plus two future first-round picks in the 2025 Telstra National Draft.

GM – AFL Daniel McPherson thanked Stringer for his contribution to the club over the course of seven seasons.

“Jake has had a great career at Essendon, and we congratulate him on what he has achieved with us. We have had a front-row seat to Jake’s highlight reel for seven seasons at Essendon and we wish Jake and his family the best in their move to the GIANTS,” McPherson said.

Joining the Bombers via trade from the Western Bulldogs at the end of 2017, Stringer averaged 17 games and 29 goals across his seven seasons at the Bombers.

The club wishes Jake and his family all the best as they embark on their next chapter in Sydney.
