Lloyd in training for Australia Day
It appears Matthew Lloyd may have to get a little extra practice in before Essendon’s NAB Cup opener – singing practice that is. The captain looks a near certainty to be one of five Essendon players who will sing the National Anthem to the Bomber faithful at their Australia Day (January 26th) open training session which will be full of the Australia Day spirit.

Essendon supporters have been asked to nominate which players they would like to hear sing and the current vote tally is looking extremely tight.
According to an early tally of the votes, Matthew Lloyd will be joined by Mark McVeigh, Angus Monfries, Rhys Magin and Andrew Welsh to sing to the crowd of Bomber faithful at the open training day.
Essendon has selected Patrick Ryder with its first selection at the NAB AFL Draft this morning. Ryder, selected at number seven, from East Fremantle is a tall forward/ruckman who is strong overhead, has clean hands and is dangerous around goals. After an outstanding debut year in the WAFL, he achieved NAB AFL U18 All-Australian honours and represented the AIS/AFL Academy in Ireland.
