The Indigenous Australian International Rules team are ready for kick off, with the two-Test series starting on Sunday morning (EDT).
Essendon has three players representing the club, with Alwyn Davey, Leroy Jetta and Nathan Lovett-Murray all proudly lining up for Australia.
Davey said he was honoured to be presenting his country and was looking forward to the first clash on October 19.
“I’m really excited to be playing alongside some of the Indigenous AFL players in other teams that I have admired over my career,” Davey said.
“It’s a huge honour to be sharing this experience with Nathan and Leroy in Ireland too. We can’t wait to get started and we’re ready for the first test.”
Former Sydney Swans great Michael O'Loughlin will coach the Indigenous team, with support from a senior coaching panel comprising Rodney Eade, Tadhg Kennelly and Andrew McLeod.
For VICNSW/TAS/ACT viewers, the first Test will be broadcast on 7mate at 6.30am on Sunday 20 October, as well as Fox Footy at 9.00pm (replay).
