Essendon Football Club is delighted to announce it has passed the 30,000 member mark milestone ahead of Christmas.

It is only the second time that the Club has reached this milestone prior to Christmas and puts the Club approximately 2,000 members ahead of its previous best at this time of year.

Chief executive officer Ian Robson said he was pleased to reach the milestone, but encouraged unsigned supporters to ensure they do whatever it takes to become a member.

“The players, coaches, board and administration of Essendon Football Club have all pledged to do whatever it takes to be successful in season 2013,” Robson said.

“It is an exciting time for the Club as we are set to make the transition from Windy Hill to Melbourne Airport next year, but we are still asking our supporters to answer the call to support the team by signing up as a member.

“Everyone has a significant role to play in ensuring the Essendon Football Club is successful and we urge all supporters to become a member and a part of the team in 2013.”

The Club’s 2013 membership campaign and slogan ‘Whatever It Takes’ was developed in conjunction with the football department and aligns with the philosophy senior coach James Hird has instilled in the current playing group.

In James Hird’s first year as coach in 2011, Essendon attracted a record 50,271 members.

Essendon's current membership tally is 30,054 and has a set target of 50,000 members and beyond in 2013.
