It is hard to imagine Jobe Watson playing much better than he did during his stellar 2012 season, capped off by a Brownlow Medal triumph, but expect to see further improvement from the Bombers captain in 2013.

In 2012 Watson gained All-Australian selection for the first time, averaging 29 disposals and kicking a career-high 20 goals during the season.

Midfield coach Simon Goodwin expects Watson’s game to further develop with a more prominent role in the forward line over the next few seasons.

“I still think he has some improvement in him,” Goodwin said.

“His ability to go forward which I think he will do more at times over the next two or three years could see him be a really dominant player in the forward line.”

Watson has played 154 games since making his debut in 2003, an amazing effort after just 13 matches from his openingthree seasons at the top level.

The 27-year-old will enter his fourth season as the Bombers skipper being classed by his peers as the best captain in the League after being voted best captain at the AFL Players Association awards.

“He is an elite player now and he is not only that he is also a great leader of our football club,” Goodwin said.

“The way he goes about his training, the way he goes about his footy and the way he carries himself as a human being you cant speak highly enough of him.”
