Essendon has thrown its support behindRadio Sport National broadcaster Adam White who will walk from the radio stationsstudio to Sorrento on Tuesday 2nd October.

Earlier this year White made the claim onradio that if Essendon missed the top eight he would walk all the way toSorrento.

The walk will raise important funds for theRelay for Life charity supporting the Cancer Council and the National Jockey’sTrust.

Essendon chief executive officer Ian Robsonsaid the Essendon Football Club was fully supportive of the walk raising moneyfor charity.

“I am going to be there to walk the firstkilometer as how you start is all about how you set up the finish in thesethings,” Robson said.

“We are going to help with some donateditems to the two charities which as you know are very close to us at the club particularlyRelay for Life that we get involved in every year.”

Adam chose the Cancer Council’s Relay forLife charity as one to raise money for after a number of personal experienceswith cancer throughout his life.

'My mother-in-law Mary Robinsonpassed away from cancer just months before our wedding from an aggressive formof stomach cancer. It was an incredibly tough time for the family, but throughthe inspirational leadership of my wife Emma, the family has been determined toraise money to fight back against the terrible disease and also raise awarenessof the impact cancer has on friends and families,” White said.

'I also had two of my closest friendsat school James Logan and Tiffany Jacobs pass away as a result of acancer-related illness. At 35 years of age, married to my wife Emma and abeautiful little one-month old boy Campbell, our whole life is ahead of us.James and Tiffany did not get the chance to feel that same feeling of happinessand fulfillment, their passing was a reality to me not to take life forgranted, however old you are.”
