“Go away, practice and build on the game plan.”
Kyle Langford has recalled the culminating events of Saturday’s one-point thriller and the key moments for the club approaching Dreamtime week.
“The way we’ve been playing the past few weeks, we’ve been building,” Langford told SEN.
“We have been implementing tiny changes, seeing a difference and feeling a difference.”
Despite some close losses, the team are constantly in the fight.
There have been major growth derived from the last four matches, including the tough defeat to rivals Collingwood in the Anzac Day showdown.
The Bombers have been constantly looking to improve and tweak their gameplan, evident in Saturday’s Dreamtime at the 'G thriller.
“The aim always is to go away, practice and build on the game plan” Langford said.
“We are always evolving the game plan and maintaining the strength and direction we are going headed as a group.”
For him however, the match itself reaffirmed what he already knew about his teammates Zach Merrett and Sam Durham.
Merrett secured a perfect 10 AFLCA votes after collecting 39 disposals, eight marks and seven tackles. The stellar performance also saw him as the recipient of the Yiooken Award for best on ground.
“He is one of those players who embodies on-field leadership, getting the job done and leading by actions,” he said.
At just 21 years old, Durham had the biggest moment in his career to date, kicking the winning goal with less than a minute remaining.
“(The team all had) total faith in him kicking it and doing what needed to be done and to have him kick it is going to be really good for him moving forward,” he said.
