Essendon Coach John Worsfold says he was excited by Orazio Fantasia’s ability to hit the scoreboard for the Bombers against the Giants.

Fantasia booted four goals for the Dons on Sunday from eight scoring shots – seven of which came in the first half.

“As a small forward to have that many shots at goal in a half is really exciting for us,” Worsfold said.

“That’s the first game where we’ve got the ball forward with that sort of volume.

“He’s been threatening.  In games where we’ve gone forward 30 odd times, he’s been getting two or three shots at goal, so he’s definitely been threatening.

“With Joe Daniher, as well, those guys are holding up with very limited supply.  They got more supply tonight and they were very good contributors.”

Fantasia has kicked 14 goals this season, while Daniher took his tally to 19.

The Bombers kept pace with the Giants for most of the game, but the match broke open in the final term with the visitors kicking six goals.

Essendon managed two goals and seven behinds.

“It was probably our worst quarter on the scoreboard but we had maybe eight shots at goal and 20 inside 50’s,” Worsfold said.

“That’s what we’re building towards and now we just need to get some more polish.

“We need to make sure we nail those opportunities.

“If we had have kicked more accurately then it was game-on all the way and it would have been a lot closer margin.

“That’s just an area that we’ve got to keep working hard.”
