A number of players stood up in Essendon VFL’s game against Collingwood on Sunday, hunting down the Pies to win by 14 points.
Here are the players pushing for senior selection this week.
Brent Stanton
Stanton continued his fine form on the weekend against the Pies. The midfielder finished with 28 disposals, five marks and four tackles.
He was able to get on the end of two goals, one was a snap shot from the boundary line.
Stanton has averaged 22 disposals this year in the VFL.
Aaron Francis
Since moving into a defensive role, Francis has been named among the best in four of his last five games.
On Sunday he finished with 15 disposals and seven marks.
After Jackson Merrett was taken from the ground due to injury, Francis moved forward, where he was able to boot a goal.
Patrick Ambrose
Ambrose continued to find form in his second game back from injury.
The defender finished with 11 disposals, five marks and one tackle.
After an impressive performance, he is again a front runner for a senior call-up.
Ben Howlett
This is the second week in-a-row Howlett has been named in the best.
He impressed against the Pies, finishing with 22 disposals and five tackles.
Howlett has been the key to a number of opposition turnovers this season, with the midfielder averaging eight tackles from his eight games in the VFL.
Craig Bird
Bird dominated on Sunday, collecting 31 disposals, three marks and three tackles.
The midfielder ran forward to kick one goal.
Bird has averaged 28 disposals in his last three games in the VFL.

Alex Boyse
Boyse added four goals to his season tally, in an impressive display against Collingwood.
He has kicked 26 goals this season, placing him fifth in the Frosty Miller Medal race.
Boyse collected 14 disposals, six marks and one tackle.
Nick Hind
Hind is continuing to develop and improve each week in the VFL.
On Sunday, he finished with 18 disposals, five tackles and two marks.
He booted a goal and assisted Brent Stanton with a goal, in the crucial final minutes of the last quarter.
Matthew Darby
Darby played his fourth game in the VFL this season on Sunday.
He produced a promising performance with 11 disposals and four marks, which had him named among the best.
