What some of the Essendon fans had to say:

""Still manages some poor disposals a little too often, but took a huge step forward in 2005 - finishing third in the Crichton Medal in his second season is an awesome effort - midfield superstar in the making,"" Michael Wyres

""This kid is an absolute gun. To come 3rd in the best and fairest in his second year is sensational. I can't wait until 2006 just to see this kid in action again. Has improved his kicking and decision-making skills to a great degree - however there is more improvement to come,"" Michael Mouzakis

""A very good year from Brent stepping up significantly to be one the shining lights in a rebuilding year. Brent needs to further develop his ball skills on both sides & increase body strength & mass to shrug off opponents as a running ball carrier. Stamped himself as one of the future midfielders for the Bombers into the next decade,"" Alan Enno

""One of the few shining lights for the year. His disposal improved out of sight and as long as he keeps up his work rate he'll be a star for a long time to come,"" Zafir Ahmed

""Great 2nd year from Stanton! Really stood up as a long term midfield prospect. One of the young guns of the Bombers, and will help us get back to the top again,"" Anthony Artusa

""Speed, ball magnet and consistency all go hand in hand with Stanton. A little clumsy with his foot skills but Brent certainly deserves the number 24 guernsey made famous by another ball magnet in Smokin Joe. It’s hard to believe he is so young too,"" Mark Grant
