What some of the Essendon fans had to say:

""Great spare parts player, must be hard trying to establish a career when thrown from pillar to post. I think he will only improve as his career lengthens. Always serviceable and a real goer,"" Graeme Durran

""More than useful role player in the Essendon side. Not all players are key position players or gun midfielders and Mark fits into this utility category. Does the job required with a minimum of fuss and has great athleticism. Will continue to be a good player for Essendon in 2006,"" John Harink

""Rated Mark highly this year, much higher than a lot of Essendon supporters would have. Stood up in games where he needed to and played in positions and on players that were not suited to him. Sometimes he can look ungamely and uncoordinated, and he can certainly scare you with his decision making and skills, but he makes up for this in sheer desperation and work ethic. Put up as a possible trade this year, but I am glad we held onto him,"" Carl Farriciello

""Big engine. Was forced to play roles he normally wouldn't due to injuries. Key to the side in that he can play both ends. Needs to turn the corner and improve next season and take to the next level,"" Peter Ridgway

""Solid performance from Bolts but I am sure he can do better. Some great games shutting down players when in the midfield but struggled when holding a permanent back position. Better suited to half back so he can run,"" Luke Price
