Essendon defender Courtenay Dempsey is confident he will be fit to take on Brisbane at Etihad Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Dempsey (ankle) and teammate Brent Stanton (groin) trained strongly with the team on Tuesday and will have another opportunity to prove their fitness during the club’s main session on Thursday.

“I am just resting it up to get it right for this week and hopefully get picked,” Dempsey told BomberTV.

“I will just take it as it comes, train this week and see how I go.”

The pair missed last Friday night’s loss to Geelong but are expected to line up against the Lions after the week off to rest their respective injuries.

One man who won’t be lining up is small forward Alwyn Davey who has already been ruled out of Saturday afternoon’s match with a low-grade hamstring strain.

Dempsey stepped inside the training hall at the club’s new High Performance Centre on Tuesday and was taken a back by the size of the building.

“It is very impressive, it is bigger than I expected but it is coming along really well and I am looking forward to permanently moving in here,” Dempsey said.

“It will be good to be permanently out here having the two big ovals as well as the indoor area but it is coming along really well.”

The Bombers will this weekend wear a special Flight Plan Guernsey recognising a select group of donors for their significant financial contribution towards the High Performance Centre project.
