Key forward Harry Jones is looking to make the most of this season, continuing to build on his form ahead of this week’s practice match against Gold Coast.

Coming off a break-out season in 2021, Jones battled injury throughout the 2022 season, limiting the exciting forward to 10 games.

Now back in full training, Jones is set to play in the Gold Coast, after participating in the last two match simulation training sessions.

“It’s awesome, I played pretty much a full practice match last week and another full one today, so I’m finally feeling pretty confident with everything,” Jones said.

“I think we’re taking a good approach to how I can come back, so I’m very excited to get going and see how we’re going when the season starts.”

Jones is looking to slot back into the Dons forward line, playing a slightly different role this year.

“Being that second or even third tall out there that can get up the ground and be that connector between the forwards and backs, so it’s sort of a different role then what I’ve played in the last couple of years, but I’m looking forward to it,” Jones said.

Match simulation has allowed the Bombers to integrate new concepts and game plans under the sharp eyes of senior coach Brad Scott.

Jones is confident the last few sessions have allowed the team to bring everything together ahead of the Gold Coast next week.

“These match sims are really important, we’ve got a different game plan this year,” Jones said.

“Gold Coast will be the first practice not against each other, so it’ll be good to try some of the new concepts we’ve learnt from Brad and see what this new game plan feels like and how it goes, so it’s exciting.”
