Three players shared the top votes awarded during Essendon’s nail-bitting two-point victory over Port Adelaide in the Coaches Association Champion Player of the Year Award.
Jason Winderlich and David Zaharakis picked up seven votes each after their staring roles in the win, with Port Adelaide midfielder Robbie Gray also nabbed seven votes.
Zaharakis was back to his dominant best through the midfield, gathering 30 disposals including seven tackles, while Winderlich excelled playing a slightly different role than usual for the Bombers across the halfback line setting up the play with his precision passing picking up 24 disposals.
Gray was the best performer for the Power on the night collecting 30 disposals and booting one goal.
Glancing at the leader board after round 16, Bomber Brendon Goddard has held onto his position in the top 10 with 45 votes, whilst there is a new leader as Nathan Fyfe who overtakes Gary Ablett at the top of the board on 75 votes for the season.
