Essendon is encouraging supporters to help share the spirit of Australia Day when the Treasury Gardens come to life with Indigenous music, dance and storytelling at the Songlines Share the Spirit festival on January 26th 2010 from 2pm – 8pm.

Victoria’s premiere Indigenous music festival boasts an eclectic program of established and emerging local artists. This year’s line-up includes Dan Sultan, Deline Briscoe; the Aces Choice headed by local legends Joe Geia and Lou Bennett; Lee Morgan; Payback Records’ Tjimba and the Yung Warriors; Djopla McKenzie from the Top End; and Richard Frankland with the Charcoal Club.

Share the Spirit will also include a youth area featuring traditional dance and hip-hop workshops and showcases, as well as cultural children’s activities.

Taking place on Australia Day each year, Share the Spirit encourages all Australians to come together and celebrate the country’s Indigenous culture through music, performance workshops, information stalls and personal exchanges between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people.

Share the Spirit is presented by Songlines Aboriginal Music Corporation and is proudly supported by Essendon Football Club and the City of Melbourne.
