Hurley set for return against Carlton
Michael Hurley is set to return for Saturday night’s blockbuster against Carlton at the MCG after missing the last month with an ankle injury.
Hurley is expected to train fully this week and push for selection ahead of this week’s important clash with the Blues.
Football Operations Manager Steve Alessio said Hurley had shown strong signs in his rehabilitation over the last fortnight.
“Hurls has gone through his rehab and he is now going to train all week,” Alessio said.
“Hopefully he will have a really solid week on the track and put his hand up for selection for this week.”
The Bombers will also be boosted by the return of big man Patrick Ryder from suspension.
Ryder served a one-match ban for rough conduct against West Coast midfielder Jamie Cripps.
Alessio said Ryder would be a welcome addition to the side.
“Paddy has trained really strongly over his suspension week and is really keen so he wants to get back out there and is ready and raring to go,” he said.
The long road to recovery continues for Courtenay Dempsey with his hamstring still recovering from an injury suffered against Collingwood in Round 19.
“Courtenay has a fair road ahead of him, his hamstring is still a bit tender so we need to work with him through that,” Alessio said.
“We need to make sure he continues to look after that so that he comes back one hundred per cent.
“Even if we make our way deep into finals he is probably going to be doubtful for that.”
