Mark Baguley has been named Essendon’s Most Courageous Player in 2015.
The award is named after Bombers premiership player Adam Ramanauskas and it was the second year in a row Baguley has won the award.
“It is a massive honour to win an award named after Adam who has done so much during and after his career,” Baguley said.
Baguley recently signed a new deal with the Bombers that will keep him at the Club until at least the end of 2017.
“To the players, I love playing with you and I really feel we’re heading in the right direction,” Baguley said.
“Also thank you so much to the fans for sticking by us.”
Interim Coach Matthew Egan said Baguley’s competitive nature has helped him become such a consistent defender.
“Each week ‘Baggers’ is given the job of shutting down the competitions best small forwards,” he said.
“He’s a fierce competitor, he hates losing those one-on-one battles and that’s why his teammates love him.
“Baggers’ is a really underrated player, his ability to win his own ball and then transition into attack provides us with a real advantage on game day.”
Baguley was recruited from Frankston in the VFL.
The Bombers selected him with the 47th pick in the 2012 Rookie Draft.
The 28 year old has played 72 games for Essendon since making his debut against Port Adelaide in round 16, 2012.
